Did you know that South View has moved? Our new number is (03) 9372 8902.
Welcome to the new financial year! I can't believe that it's the middle of July already. As you can see, we've moved and I've been thinking a lot about re-setting goals now that the move is out of the way.
How are you going in relation to your goals for 2010? Are you on track? Or do you need a little mid-year kick-start to get you going again?
Many of us lose momentum during the colder winter months - and it's not just the health and fitness goals that seem to suffer. So what can you do to reinvigorate yourself?
There are some obvious answers, like take a vacation somewhere warm or treat yourself to something special. They are great options, but they aren't always possible and, more importantly, they're not always going to drive you to achieve your goals. So, what should you do?
Firstly, take a look at your goals and ask yourself "are these the most important goals I should be striving for at the moment?". If the answer is yes then it's time to assess why you haven't achieved them yet. Is it because of a lack of action, the wrong actions or perhaps it's time to start thinking about them differently?
Then ask yourself "what is the one thing I can do today, this week and this month to help me achieve my goals - in other words, break them down into do-able chunks. Sometimes our goals seem insurmountable and breaking them down makes the first step feel more achievable. And don't forget to reward yourself when you do achieve something - you'd tell your staff or your kids "well done" - so why not tell yourself!
I wonder, who is helping you to achieve your goals? Have you told your partner, friends or colleagues about what you're trying to do? Have you asked them to help keep you accountable? "Putting it out there" makes it real - and asking a friend to check in with you every once is a while can help avoid the embarrassing "not yet" response.
And finally, be sure that you have defined what success will look and feel like for each of your goals. Be really specific - otherwise how will you know when you're there.
Good luck!
